WEST COWES
In Northwood Park, original stne war memorial damaged by bombing in WW2, no names at present exist from the memorial. Plaque stating:

1914 - 1918 1939-1945 This memorial, erected to the memory of the residents of Cowes who lost their lives in the Great War 1914 - 1918, stood at the junction of High Street and Market Hill and was severely damaged in an air raid on the night of 4th/5th May 1942 in the World War 1939 - 1945. Re-erected as a memorial of the two wars and to the mwemory of all who made the supreme sacrifice in defence of their country.

In proud memory of three gallant officers of the 1/8 Hampshire Reegiment (T.F.) Isle of Wight Rifles Captain Donald White Ratsey, killed at Sulva Bay, August 12th 1915 Captain Clayton Ratsey, killed at Sulva Bay, August 12th 1915 Lieutenant Stephen Gilbert Ratsey, killed in the first Battle of Gaza, April 19th 1917 Sons of Thomas White and Lucy Margaret Ratsey, of Cowes They fought and died for King and Country

Marble plaque on wall in St Mary's Church.

In loving memory of Oscar Westbrook, Sergt. in the H.C.Y. attached 15th Hants. Regt. who was killed in action in the Great War, at Tower Hamlets, Flanders, on September 20th 1917. Aged 26 years. For many years a chorister in this church. "We bless and thank thee Lord, for those, the good and brave, who, eager at their country's call strong, undismayed, surrendered all: Grant them eternal rest."
